Canshare Strong Stories

This is the page for the stories of what made you feel strong or better during treatments.  Things like someone bringing a present or card to you, or even exercising or screaming at the top of your lungs when you are having a really bad day.  Whatever you can think of or want to share!

I wanted to share that exercise kept me strong, mentally (besides physically), during it all.  It was what “punched cancer in the face for me.”  I had a guy come up to me to ask why I worked out so hard in the gym (during my bald/chemo phase), I immediately replied, “Because it chases my crazy thoughts away!”  He let loose with a booming laugh and said, “I understand.”  Thanks, man (and now a GOOD friend)!! We went to clinic on Friday because I was dizzy, tired, had headaches, & had a tummy ache.  They checked my counts and my ANC is lower, but everything else was fine.  They thought I might be dehydrated so they gave me IV fluids and told me to drink more water.  They also asked me about New York & told me to do Rockette high kicks.  I did until one of the PA’s came down the hall and said, “Don’t pull a muscle!”  (Alysia/Dec 2011)  (Canshare note:  this one made me giggle that after all Alysia has going on in her body, the PA is worried she’ll pull a muscle?  LOL, keep kicking, girl, keep kicking!!)

Sean is so cute he wanted to help me load the dishwasher so he rinsed and I loaded then he said, “I want to help you mum because all the people help me with cancer and it will make me stronger”.  Then he started to sing, ” ‘n’ that, ‘n’ that, that don’t kill me will only make me stronger.”   I really don’t think he made the connection but we thought it was great !!    (From Pamela, Sean’s Mom/ http://www.facebook.com/SeanTheLeulemiaAssassinPetrone?ref=tn_tnmn / February 2011)

So, LJ decided to play bloody knuckles at school today, till his hand was swollen and red.  Why on earth would he do that?  ”To prove I am tough Mom.”  Are u kidding me with that?  Wow!  After all he has been through he wants to prove he is tough!!  (LJs page/February 2011/http://www.facebook.com/ljclawsonhealed/posts/327443960630744?ref=notif&notif_t=share_comment#!/ljclawsonhealed)

Wes went to the art room today where they were working on rainbow scratch paper. Kids from the different floors came to draw pictures and were all sitting around the big table quietly… that is until Wes came in. He started his picture with a fish, who got eaten by a snake, who got eaten by a crocodile, who got eaten by the dinosaur, who got eaten by the megalodon. LOL !!  Then they were blown up, by a missile launcher and nuclear warfare. Then the megalodon was eaten by a killer whale. Wes was acting it out and using sound effects, with jaws music all while pretending he had fins and ate like a shark.
