Surgical Stitches

Surgery’s nickname is “Slashed”.

If you really want to scare or make your surgeon laugh, write on the surgical site:  “Please handle with care, as contents are biohazardous material, please dispose of properly!!”  (Canshare/June 2011)

I.V. poles post surgery may be attached to you for long time.  I recommend giving the pole a name.  Say to people you meet while walking somewhere, “Hi, my name is___________, and this is my I.V. pole named _____________”.  Be creative and have fun with it.  (Canshare/June 2011)

After surgery to remove lymph nodes in my armpit, I really couldn’t move my arm, upon asking my doctor why, he replied, “Because you were like this for six hours”, and he proceeded to put himself into a funny position with his arm over his head.  I was like, “Thanks, Doc, I needed the visual”.  LOL  (Canshare/June 2011)

Wes was concerned he would swallow his tooth during surgery so he had the child life specialist make a special green sign for the anesthesiologist that says “I have a loose tooth. Please be careful. Thank you”.  (Wes’ Fight Against Neuroblastoma/http://www.facebook.com/Wes.Fight.Against.NB?sk=info#!/Wes.Fight.Against.NB?sk=wall/February 2012)
