Okay, okay, I might have “stuff I like” linked here, but otherwise, NO ADS!! The reason I don’t want “any ads” is because when I was undergoing treatments it was REALLY HARD to concentrate on stuff, anything, televisions, computers, movies, reading, people talking to me even. Especially under chemo, but rads and surgery make your brain distracted by all the signals it is receiving from various body parts too. So, that’s why I don’t want any jumpy little windows, sidebars, and “click heres” on this site. I just thought I’d explain myself a little further on that note, in case anyone gets a burr underfoot about why I might have links to stuff I like, kind of like an “ad”, but not really. That’s my thoughts, take it or leave it and have fun “clicking here”. Hee hee hee. (Canshare)
A great place for children with cancer: www.stjudes.org
I just squeaked into the “young adults” category for cancer, being diagnosed at 39, even though I probably was cultivating my cells at a much younger age, due to the extent of my disease, ha ha, but this site is cool, their motto is “I’m too young for this!” (Even though none of us wish cancer on “old folks” either.) www.stupidcancer.com P.S.: I happened to have the fortunate luck of meeting and learning the story of Matthew Zachary, founder of this website, and I have to say that he is witty, funny, and charming. He is a true visionary and is inspiring to so many around the world. Thanks, Matthew, you’re awesome!
Need an angel? Try www.imermanangels.org, the founder, Jonny Imerman is one super great guy, I can tell, even though we haven’t met, yet !!
Then, with the amusing phrase of “Cancer: There are better ways to build character”, also geared to the “young jet set”, there’s: www.planetcancer.org
Thanks to karma, and an airplane ride to visit some doctors at my cancer center, I stumbled across a great article on Sean Swarner. He doesn’t stumble, but he does climb. For the curiously minded, click here: www.cancerclimber.org or www.seanswarner.com Addendum again: Sean Swarner is a great motivational speaker, I was lucky to get to meet him in person. He is the first cancer survivor to climb Mount Everest (with one lung) and he doesn’t rest, he has climbed the highest peaks on all 7 continents with his sights set the North and South Poles now too. Thanks, Sean, for being an inspiration to cancer survivors around the world too, you rock!!
